My next door neighbor Jen asked me to knit her husband Brent a Seahawks beanie. I told her I would knit her a matching scarf with it. I ended up knitting two beanies since one is a tad bit too big.

Scarves for mom, aunt, and other aunt

This type of yarn is pretty soft. My mom's scarf is the softer kind (supposed to be the expensive kind but it was on sale and bought it for an answer deal).

Mom picked out this yarn. This scarf is equivalent to 2 yarn balls. When I finished "casting off" the scarf, I took a look at it and hated how it was soooooo wide. Once I wrapped it around my neck, it wasn't so bad after all! Shoot, the reason to have a scarf is to keep one's neck warm, right? This scarf definitely covers that job of keeping one's neck warm. Mom will get this scarf when I see her next which is coming up soon, her birthday weekend. It's been nice wearing this scarf the past couple weeks in the cold. The scarf is soft, thick, and warm! (Sorry these pictures are blurry; they were taken from my cell phone).

This is Aunt Chantal. She wanted her scarf to be long. I didn't measure how long it is, but it's long enough.

This scarf is for Aunt Shirley. I really like the length and width for this one (55 inches long by 5.5 inches wide). This may have been my favorite scarf. I have not knitted a scarf for myself but if I had to choose a scarf to wear, it would have been this one:

2 Sided Blanket - Represent Seattle

My brother originally had the Seattle Seahawks blanket but it was too small for a 6'3 guy. The Seattle Mariner's blanket was a "give away" item when I attended a game over the summer. That blanket, too, was too small for a tall person so I figured: let's extend the two. Front and back, there you have a Seattle blanket...and a very soft one! (Glad he was happy with it seeing that I took it w/o his permission to extend the length for his xmas gift :) Dimensions: 86 inches by 59 inches (~7ft by 5ft).

A Fall Scarf for Cousin Tyler

Santa Hat into a Beanie style: Granny, Cousin Emily, Freddy

Jae's mother sent me a santa hat instruction for knitting. I took a look at it. I rose my eyebrows and thought, I could do this. I have never been a fan reading knitting instructions. I have to admit, I didn't follow the instructions at all. In fact, I did it my way and it turned out okay. It was also my first time making a pom pom for a beanie. It was quite easy to make it, thanks to YouTube videos!

Green Twine Bag Revised...

I added buttons! It probably took 5 minutes. I like 'em. Flaps are now secured. (Scroll down to the June 3rd post, and you'll see what the bag looked like before the buttons were sewn on). This is the closest to a "purse" you'll ever see me using. That's why it's more of a shoulder bag rather than a purse. And it's my favorite! Normally if we're going to go out, I'll give Jae my ID card to put in his wallet. I hate carrying stuff, unless it's just a water bottle.

89.5 inches (7.5 ft) long! 59.5 inches (5 ft) wide. Jae is 6.6 ft tall, so he loves this blanket 'cuz it covers up his whole body. I didn't realize how long it was going to be once I was done putting the fabrics together. There are 3 layers! Top layer is the Texas A&M sewn on top of the black fabric. Then I put the 3rd fabric (black) on the bottom, machine sewn around the edge/ border. It sure is warm and incredibly soft!!! Definitely a winter blanket. Side note: I purchased the fabrics for part of Jae's Valentine's gift but I didn't have a sewing machine at the time and shortly after was the time we started packing to move here in Oregon. Finally got it done! Didn't take that long, less than a couple hours.

My uncle is a Sounders fan! He actually saw Tim's beanie and thought "Sounders!" So I knitted him a beanie since both teams have similar team colors. (Pix was taken from my aunt's phone...not the greatest quality but oh well! :)

My cousin Shane Blankenburg got himself a "Sounders" beanie too....He wanted his beanie reversed pattern compared to my brother's and uncle's.

T-shirt Quilt

I've made 2 quilts during my lifetime. The first one I made was my senior project in high school. I had a mentor that helped me go from step to step. They were just a few of my softball t-shirts I used:

You can see I tied the batting/backing rather than sewing them together (the third photo on the right where my finger is pointing at the string). The whole quilt is machine sown. In fact I never did the binding (neon green color on edge... hard to see on the photo)... my mentor did that. So the 2nd quilt I did the binding by myself... not perfect but I gotta start somewhere! hah! This quilt is meant to fit a twin size bed as I used it for my first couple years in college then donated the quilt to my father during my wedding rehearsal dinner as he had drooled and begged for that quilt the couple years I had it. Size: just over 77 inches by 64 inches.

The second quilt I made all by myself! I had a couple quick affirmation/ questions here and there that I would get answered via telephone with my mother-in-law. These were scraps/ leftover t-shirts from Jae's shirts. I originally started working on a different t-shirt quilt for Jae but saw that I had a huge pile of t-shirt leftovers. And here's what I did with them:

Mixed pattern on both sides. I hand sewed the batting/backing and half of the binding... the closing of the binding. I machine sewed the t-shirts together and the first half of the binding. I did iron the interfacing on each of the t-shirts as well to keep the t-shirts from stretching. Finishing this quilt took me exactly a week to complete. This is more of a lap quilt, for a short person, or a tall person curled in a ball... it isn't nearly as big as my first quilt: just over 68 inches by 48 inches.

I finally got a picture of the first beanie I knitted a couple Christmas ago...I think in 2008. If I remember correctly, it took me one full day to complete it with my mother-in-law's support. This is my sister-in-law:

I made a his and her beanie for my best buddy Danie Collins and her newly husband Freddy Nemesio. I think the more brown one is for Danie and the other for Freddy.

Green Twine Bag

I actually finished this late December. I am finally coming around to posting it on here. I love this bag and used it everyday for a bit. I've been meaning to sew on a button or some type of hook to keep the flap down and secured. But that shouldn't take longer than a few minutes. It hasn't bothered me too much w/o one. Anyway I am proud with this bag seeing that I didn't use any instructions whatsoever but just made it up as I put it together. I don't really use it for disc golfing... used it a couple times for that. You can see there is a separator/ slot as well as a little pouch to put my cell phone or little water bottle inside it.

I also came across a slight problem when I broke my bamboo needle. I learned to not use too much force when I'm working with twine! haha. This is when I was working on the first twine bag (a couple previous blogs).

Then here are some cheap knitting needles that light up. Cool idea but not the sturdiest needles, even when using normal yarn.

Nightmare

If you know me, you know that I have the weirdest dreams from time to time. Dreams about such nonsense events, dreams that don't make sense, dreams that are thankfully dreams and are not reality, and occasionally dreams that would be brilliant to become reality.

Wow I haven't written on my blog or posted any of my knitting stuff here in a while. Do me a favor and look up the word nightmare in a thesaurus. Check out all of those synonyms: torture, hell, misery...

I had a nightmare last night. Thinking about it makes my eyes water as my throat swells holding in my breath. I dreamt Jae died. We were on vacation and I'm not quite sure how he died but it felt incredibly real. I cried so much that when my eyelids opened at 5:30am I was crying in reality as well. I kept crying over and over attempting to figure out what really was going on. Jae awoke and comforted me as he was half asleep. I left the room and went to the bathroom to get my emotional state vacuumed out of my dream and turn to reality. Boy, were my eyes blazing red when I looked in the mirror. I took a number of deep breaths and decided to take the risk to go back to sleep hoping I wouldn't fall back into the same dream. Thankfully I didn't.

But, having that dream really disturbed me. I haven't stop thinking about my sweet Jae baby today. Because I had that dream, it makes me even more thankful for our relationship. I thank God we are together and forever will be together. We're going to die into each other arms when we're 79 years old, the summer of '69 (Bryan Adams)...as that song will be played at our funeral.

Sexy's (the Monkey) Beanie

I was getting tired of the plain ol' knit and purl patterns so I tried knitting "cable" stitches. It turned out okay however in the future I will use a smaller size needle instead of the larger ones because it made the beanie more "see through" or "hole-y". This is why I gave the beanie to Sexy, the monkey. It fits him well, and even makes him look even more sexy ;)

Jae wanted me to knit him an orange and black beanie so there he has it.....

Abby Register (Resident Assistant) loves teal blue colors. Hilary Standish (Assistant Director) is a big Texas State fan.

Jae actually started to knit this beanie...he finally got tired knitting after half way through so I finished it for him. Spouse teamwork! :) I really like the colors. You can see in one of the photos Jae put his beanie inside out...looks kinda cool.

Shiloh is a big Texas fan so I knitted her a matching beanie and scarf. Josh (and Shiloh) is a Maverick fan so I knitted him a beanie that is close to the Mav's colors..

On the right is a Texas beanie for my mother-in-law and on the left is a plain ol' blue beanie for her husband.

(I think it's funny they're both wearing them backwards but of course it isn't too noticeable ;)

My mom visited us kids in good ol' Abilene TX during Homecoming weekend...filled with activities and whatnot. While she was here, she picked out some yarn for me to knit her a lovely soft brown scarf. It is the first time I used this type of yarn. As a gift in return from mom, she bought me a pair of wooden needles. I am used to the metal ones. I am liking the wooden ones a lot. I finished mom's scarf before she left to go back home. She loves it!

I love knitting.

I still consider myself a beginner but it's still so much fun when I complete one after another. I finished my brother's 2nd beanie (Fall colors) in 3 days. Now I am about to finish my Granny's beanie (purple and pink) within 2 days. Next I am going to knit a bunch of wristbands for my brother and his friends when they play ultimate frisbee. I'm interested to see how the wristbands turnout.

Someday I will learn how to crochet. I know a few people who are going to teach me. It would be awesome to include crochet AND knitting patterns on a beanie...or a scarf....etc.

This is my first BABY beanie I knitted a couple weeks ago. It's for a co-worker/friend of mine who is due in a few days!

Bike Rack

A bike rack... how beneficial are they? They are AWESOME! I just bought one via Craisgslist. I bought it for a bargain...shoot, I didn't even need to do any negotiations! This friendly family had only used it once from AZ to TX with their bikes. I am excited that I can use this bike rack and bring our bikes everywhere we go... well, when we go camping and out of town. This bike rack can hold up to 3 bikes.
Soooo how much did I buy it for??? Well let me just tell you that to buy this specific bike rack new, it would cost between: $149.95 to $120.00 depending on which website/store you buy it from. Okay, ready to hear how much I paid for mine that was used only once??? Okay...... $10...TEN Dollars! That's how much this family offered it to me... they practically did the bargaining for me...ha!
I am such a nerd getting excited about an item but hey this bike rack is going to be so useful when we go on vacations.

Creation

Good Morning.

I just got back from the Creation Fest yesterday. The gorge is always beautiful with the Columbia River in the background.. behind the main stage. It was Jae's first time going and he had a blast! It was my 6th time going and hopefully many more years to come. New World Son is a great band.... a bunch of us were in the mosh pit during their performance and we just danced like the music just took over our souls. It was awesome. We made it on the big screen several times. People from our group sat on the hillside and saw us on the screen. We also enjoyed Need To Breathe band. One of their songs is on the PS I Love You soundtrack. David Crowder Band did a phenomenal job getting everyone to stand up, dance, sing... just having a good time worshiping. There were a bunch of speakers and one of my favorites were "Brett Ullman" who talked about Media, Faith, and Culture. It was very captivating. I wish everyone would listen to that lesson. My heart was definitely touched.

Well I am finishing up my One Year Anniversary Trip video. It is awesome!

Washington

I've been vacationing in Washington for almost 2 weeks. It's been awesome seeing that it hasn't rained here much, yay! I've been going to the lake, jet skiing, and boating with family and friends. I am excited when Jae comes here on the 17th.

My parents went to Leavenworth for a few days and will return this evening. I've been taking care of my sister and it's been good fun; I painted her toe nails, enjoyed the sunshine, watched When Harry Met Sally, and went to see Ice Age III.

My buddy Kim and I are driving to Oregon for a wedding this weekend. YAY EMILY TSCHIEGG and DAVID BURKHART! Jae is going to a wedding this weekend as well that is in Texas.

Movies

What does the word "terrible" mean to you? That's what I think of movies... movies are becoming dirtier than ever. Rated R standards are becoming PG-13 standards and PG-13 standards are becoming PG standards. The world seems to be desperate. Ohh how to make a movie so good and make it the most popular one of all? Oh let's put in some nudity and high profanity throughout the film. Hey baby, let's go check this movie out since "everyone" else is talking about it.

I just need to throw this out here: if you see a naked person, I'd say you are acting upon pornography under certain circumstances. Unless you think porn is part of your religion, then please excuse this blog. I understand that some people have self-control, a good enough "filter" to not let the scene or picture travel to your mind and letting your mind travel to your pants. But not everyone has that spectacular filter. Just imagine yourself seeing that naked person in real life.... breasts and penises behind the plastic screen is pretty much the same in front of the plastic screen, right? A person is a person.

I am truly blessed that my husband has a phenomenal filter and that there are a couple AMAZING movie ratings that tells you how much violence, nudity, and profanity will be displayed:

These websites are like my "bible" when it comes to movie decision-makings. Call me hardcore or a wacko, but all I strive is to have a healthy mind. I am not perfect nor have a perfect mind. In fact, some of my favorite movies have a high profantiy level and some nudity scenes. But "filter" is the key word here. Watch what you think is beneficial and what your mind can control. Feel free to pour out your opinion but my opinion is pretty set and stone here.

1 Year Anniversary Video

I've been working on this video for our one year anniversary that is coming up this weekend. Since I am new with this whole Macbook Pro deal, iMovies (video program that came with the mac) is taking me a lot longer than it should be. I have over a thousand pictures and plan to include a few video clips here and there. It should be approximately an hour long. It's tough putting a year of events into a one hour video. I think it would be sweet if I created a video for each anniversary we have. We shall see.

Oh hey, there is this camp that's happening here at ACU called "kadesh camp" or something like that. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law (youth pastor) are here with their youth group kids all the way from Colorado. I got to see my sister-in-law (Shiloh) who is PREGNANT! Her name is Addison Hope. That was exciting to finally "meet" her... aka rubbing Shiloh's tummy :) Wow, that means I am going to be an Aunt... weird! I've always thought I was going to be a mommy before an aunt. I am learning to be patient each day.

Garage Sale and BBQ Cookout

Jae, Adam (Jae's AD) and I went garage saling this morning at 7:30A.M. As usual, it was a great success! I know, I know... why buy "stuff, stuff, stuff"? I am with you on this but keep in mind that I sell stuff in return. I realize that having less things feels like I am living more of a simpler lifestyle. But how can I let go or pass when I see such a great deal on this sweet item...? This morning I bought a kick rockin' football crock pot...for only... 1 buck! Believe it or not. And yes, it works. I also bought this cute hotdog grill that has metal bars that keep the dogs rolling and has a nice cubby on the top to put the buns in. How much? For only 3 bucks! We used it for part of our huge cookout "house warming" deal this evening. It was pretty fun and entertaining. We had a good time chatting, eating, disk golfing, and watching the Great Debaters.

Funny and bizarre comment someone said to me this morning during our garage sale mission: "You're too young to be bargaining"- said a snobbishly rich lady with no smile or humor. All I asked if I could have this mirror for 5 bucks instead of 10 and for this antique mail box thing for 50 cents instead of 75 cents. Both requests, she turned me down. I was rejected like a bullet shot me. But no hard feelings. I thought it was quite funny!!!! When she made that comment to me, I asked "you think so? I don't"- with a kind smile on my face. Jae told me I should have told her that her outfit looks too old for her!

It's fun to play around with our last name "Webb". Anyway, it's Friday! It's AMAZING having the summer off from work. So pretty much Friday's are like everyday for me.

I guess I'll have to "blog" some more later seeing that I have no set plans for today...aka, nothing to share with you or myself. Are blogs for you to read or just for me to feel like I have a "friend" for me anytime I desire?
